ohh more pics and wht is with the duplicate? Sheee!! Looks goregous and tell Payal I have been to dharamsala twice, once to go to 'uncharted' territories - uncharted by me ;)

Jyllands-Posten commissioned the cartoons in Sept 2005. Some of the toons were reprinted in French, Norwegian and German papers...and I believe in Jordanian paper too - most of the editors were sacked. It is likely the cartoons were reprinted in an Egyptian newspaper...why not? And besides the issue is not the reprints, the issue is the actual commissioning of the cartoons!

Everything going twice now, dont know why. You have really sunk your teeth into the cartoon row, havent you? good show. Had heard of it being reprinted in Jordan, had not known of it being printed in Egypt. Interesting tidbit though.

Oh.. one more titbit. I read in the lastest issue of Businessweek here in the US, an editorial that said that the whole hooplah was Iran and Syria's attempt to drive attention away from the nuclear issue. And apparently the whole thing was incited by a Danish Muslim who flew down to Damascus and started visiting madrassas distributing a booklet, containing not just these cartoons, but passages to incite the Muslim population.

The cartoons issue is very interesting indeed. I'm still looking for a good link where all of them are displayed, so I can get down to doing a blog post. *denies delaying tactics*

And before Alpana rants about going off topic: congratulations, so you figured out how to show photographs! Twice!
